Job Description
This is an exciting role that will contribute to your professional development by providing you a breadth of experience which will expand your ability to think critically, handle difficult situations, and further develop your problem solving/troubleshooting skills. The work we do at Hardie is unique and interesting, you could be working on new construction, or be part of a team providing essential service to our industrial customers in order to help them keep their operations running smoothly. At Hardie Journeyperson Electrician’s will also have the ability to learn more about and work with installing, maintaining, and calibrating industrial instrumentation devices, as well as, assisting with the assembly and wiring of electrical control panels, including assisting with on-site installations, as needed.
More specifically, a Journeyperson Electrician will be responsible for:
- Ensuring all of the electrical components of various indoor and outdoor structures and sites are installed and maintained in proper working order,
- Ensuring all work is done according to proper codes and specifications,
- Inspecting and making modifications to electrical systems and troubleshooting problems as they arise to keep sites running smoothly and safely,
- Performing their duties in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements, including ensuring they are following proper PPE procedures and company and customer health and safety policies and safe work practices.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Post-secondary education in electrical techniques or a related field is considered an asset,
- You must possess a valid 309A Electrical License and be an active member with Skilled Trades Ontario,
- Experience as an electrician within construction and industrial environments is considered a strong asset,
- Be a good communicator and independent worker,
- Must possess a valid class G2 Driver’s License, or better, with a clean driving record and access to a reliable means of transportation,
- Be willing to work weekends and participate in the on-call schedule as required.
